Ondřej Palát - biography
After spending his junior years in Frýdek-Místek and Vítkovice, he left for the minor American leagues to fight for a contract in the famous NHL. In 2011 he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning as the 208th pick, but his tenacity soon won him a place on the main roster in the 2013/2014 season. He finished his rookie season with 59 points (23+36), the second highest score in the history of Czech NHL players, just behind Ivan Hlinka.
Since then he’s been one of Tampa Bay’s essential players, valued mainly for his versatility, industriousness and tenaciousness. Plus this quiet and modest forward can also score important goals – his 11 playoff goals helped the Tampa Bay Lightning win the coveted Stanley Cup.
