Bořek Dočkal - biography
Bořek Dočkal wears the prestigious captain armband at AC Sparta Prague and on the Czech national team. In both teams, which rely on a number of football personalities and seasoned players, he enjoys the trust of his teammates both on the pitch and in the dressing room. One of the most remarkable Czech footballers of the last decade started at AC Slavia Prague, to which he transferred from Poděbrady at age ten.
He played his first league matches on loan to Kladno and later made his breakthrough at FC Slovan Liberec. Afterwards he signed his first international contract with the Turkish club Konyaspor. More importantly, he then joined the Norwegian club Rosenborg Trondheim, where he scored 14 goals in 55 matches before returning to the Czech Republic, specifically to AC Sparta Prague. He immediately became one of the team’s essential players and helped it win the coveted treble in his first season.
In winter 2017 he accepted an offer from the Chinese club Henan Jianye, and, while on loan to the Philadelphia Union, he also experienced American Major League Soccer. He returned to Sparta in spring 2019 and helped the team win the 2020 Czech Cup.
